Days turn into years...

So working my shift at Arts on 9th today. Nothing new, no one in...could have something to do with the people hanging around the door. Sigh. Anyway we had a great exhibit on Friday - Art Brigatta. Was art work of tattoo artists from TattooFest which was in Tampa last week. The show was great so we asked them to hold over for this Friday also. We'll have live music and other surprises going on. Should be a great time...unfortunately I'm helping out at the jewelry store on Fridays so I'll miss most of it.

Still no activity on the job search - just nothing out there. So working around the center keeping busy. Trying to figure out how to get more art work in here besides my own, right now there are empty shelves and we need more to fill it up. So if you know anyone who wants to sell their work...let me know.

I'm Back?

Okay, I lost my job in December - my son had a car wreck 3 days later and fractured his neck. We're in the midst of opening a community art center and most of the promised funding has disappeared (due to one short sighted person) but we're moving forward and should open this week. While working on the new art center Jeff hurt his back and was severly impacted for about 6 weeks. My son got engaged and future daughter-in-law was in hospital for a week. I'm still looking for a job in an ecomomy that keeps tanking further and further. Promised leads havent materialized and most companies are on a hiring freeze if not actually downsizing themselves. My "transition counsellor" has informed me that I'm doing all the right things but the only growth industry is actually transition specialists.

So that brings everyone up to speed - I feel like I'm running a race but my shoes are filled with oatmeal...

How's your day?

Hello again....

Well I haven't written anything since November - so here's a quick breakdown...

1. I lost my job the first week of December due to a RIF (Reduction in Force) aka layoff. I spent 3 days in tears because every time I got close to my computer another person who had just found out would IM me their outrage. Several of my friends were let go the same day - all of them were very talented and cared about their jobs. Sometimes things aren't fair as my HR Rep told me on my way out the door.

2. I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time in that depression because 3 days later my oldest son was in a car wreck...he fractured a vertebrae in his neck. I spent several days at the hospital with him and then several more taking care of him here. He has to wear a neck brace for possibly 12 weeks - which is not good for a 22 year old. Hard to find out you aren't invincible...

3. We finally got a lease on a building...we are in the process of creating a community arts center. Hooray finally a bit of good (make that GREAT news!) It's lots of hard work ahead of us but we're all looking forward to officially opening.

4. A few family medical issues - Jeff's aunt has to have an angioplasty (maybe someday I'll write about it) and my mother found out that she has a problem with a heart valve. The only way to correct is surgery but due to her other medical conditions she is not a candidate for the surgery...still trying to figure out what that means.

5. Jeff took me to Disney for my birthday - it was the most wonderful day. We stayed at a hotel on Disney property and had a great time. It was probably the best birthday I've ever had.

6. Took Sprinkles out to dinner for her birthday - what started as a dinner for the two of us quickly became dinner for 5 as more friends wanted to spend the time with her, a lot of people love her.

This brings us almost current...

7. Jeff has severe lower back strain and can only move with great difficulty- so this week has been spent helping him. I love him dearly and hate to see him in this pain. Hoping it starts to feel better soon.

There are other things I could write about - we had our annual Christmas party...spent Christmas day with Friends...etc. but it's 4:30AM and I'm a little tired so I'll write again soon.

PS: still looking for new job so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
